Free Christmas coloring pages for kids
A snowman, a gingerbread friend, a warm mug of cocoa and a penguin, ready to print or color on a screen. They are free, with no ads and no sign-up, and every page is a color-by-number picture: a number in each square tells you which crayon to use.
How color by number works
Every picture is a grid of small squares, and each square holds a number. The color key next to the picture says which color each number is: 1 might be red, 2 green, 3 white. Kids pick up the matching crayon, fill in every square with that number, and move on to the next. Slowly a snowman or a gingerbread friend appears. It is good practice for numbers and steady hands, and quiet enough to do at the kitchen table. Online, the same idea works by tapping: choose a color, tap the squares, and watch the picture come to life.
Ways to use these pages in December
- A coloring advent calendar. Print the pages at the start of December and let your child color one picture each week, or cut a page into pieces and finish a few squares a day until Christmas.
- Handmade cards. Print on card stock, color, fold, and write inside. Grandparents keep these, and kids are proud to give something they made themselves.
- Gift tags with names. Color a small picture, cut it out, write a name on the back, and tape it to a present instead of a store-bought tag.
- A calm Christmas Eve. Coloring is a quiet way to settle excited kids before bed. Put on soft music, pour the cocoa, and set out the crayons.
- Classroom parties. Print a stack of each page so nobody waits for a favorite. Regular printer paper works, and thicker paper is nice if you use markers.
- Decorations. Hang finished pages on the fridge, string them up as a banner, or stand the snowman up in a window.
✿ About these pages. I'm a dad of two, and I make Color Quest, a free color-by-number game, for my own kids first. I write pages like this one the way I'd explain them to another parent over coffee: what to print, what to color with, and how to keep it relaxed.
Frequently asked questions
Are these Christmas coloring pages really free?
Yes. Every page is free to print or play online, with no ads, no sign-up and no email needed.
What is on the pages?
Gentle winter friends: a snowman, a gingerbread cookie, a mug of hot cocoa and a penguin. Nothing scary and nothing to buy, so they suit every family and classroom.
What is Christmas color by number?
Each square has a number, and each number has a color in the key. Kids fill every square with the matching color, and a Christmas picture appears as they go.
What age are they for?
Most kids from about 4 to 10 enjoy them. Younger children do well with a grown-up helping and big crayons, and older kids like the bigger pictures.
Can we color online instead of printing?
Yes. Every picture has a Color online link that opens it in the browser on a phone, tablet or computer.
